Day Treatment
What is a Day Treatment Program? Day treatment is a partial hospitalization program for those individuals with chronic, mental, emotional, and/or addictive disorders who do not require twenty-four-hour inpatient care. Sometimes clients will need extra support as they transition from inpatient care to outpatient care. When this occurs, a day treatment program is an excellent option at a lower cost than an inpatient facility. This level of care allows clients to live at home, attend school, or work while receiving the support they need to maintain the goals they achieved during their inpatient treatment. The OTM day treatment program is structured with in-person therapy sessions, and clients may attend several times per week. The length of time someone spends in day treatment will depend on his or her unique goals and needs. Some may need a few sessions per week, while others will require fewer. Program staff will work with each client to create a treatment plan that will help him or her achieve his or her goals.

OTM will utilize group therapy to help each client manage mental health issues and develop communication and social skills. Our staff will offer various activities depending on each client's or patient's age and specific mental health and behavioral concerns. Each type of therapy differs in principles and approach to offer each client the tools they need to overcome trauma, build self-esteem, and generally cope with the stressors of life. Moreover, we strive to make group activities fun and interesting so that everyone stays engaged and reaps the benefits.
OTM therapeutic day treatment programs and treatments are built around learning how to build relationships with peers, receive feedback, reduce symptoms, and discover new ways to manage mental health and behavior. Some of our clients may experience emotions more intensely than others, and because of this, they often have more difficulty managing them. Through group therapy and/or therapeutic day treatment, they can learn to understand the underlying causes of each thought, feeling, and behavior while gaining the tools needed to help them feel and function better (learning coping skills and receiving help with processing). Group or family therapy can also be offered on an outpatient basis so that family members can learn their role in offering healthy support to each person as they learn tools of self-care and recovery.

The treatment process is highly individualized. For example, the length of the program for addiction would depend on the severity of the addiction (how much was used, what substances were used, the length of time in the addiction, etc.). When speaking with an intake person, honesty is of the utmost importance. If you are addicted to heroin or alcohol, medical detox may be necessary before beginning our day treatment plan.
When you have decided that you are ready to undergo treatment for addiction or mental health challenges, the next thing to consider is whether you need inpatient or outpatient treatment. This decision is best made with your doctor or mental health professional, and the level of severity will be considered along with the level of care that is needed. When you are ready to go into a treatment program, you will need to consider all your options and determine which approach is right for you. Whether you are considering inpatient or outpatient treatment, Your doctor or a professional counselor can help you make this important decision as you take steps towards your road to recovery.
